We all have Logs

Matthew 7

Do Not Judge Others
“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. 2 For you will be treated as you treat others.[a] The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.[b]

3 “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye[c] when you have a log in your own? 4 How can you think of saying to your friend,[d] ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

In order to witness, we need to see others through Jesus' eyes. Care about that person and try to put your feet into their shoes for just a moment before making a snap judgement or writing that person off completely. Try to realize that we all come from different points of view and you are not above their sin.

We are quick to think that the homeless man on the street corner is not worth helping, because he could just go get a job. Sometimes life is not that easy, and you are blessed if you have people to help you and a job that will pay the bills.

We are quick to think that the drug addict should just quit. Do you have an addiction of any kind? Cigarettes? Shopping? Caffeine? Junk food? How are you any different?

We are quick to judge an unwed teen mother, yet we are just as quick to tell people that we are "Pro-life" in the same moment. All life is worth celebrating, because it all came from GOD. Those young ladies need out love, support, and encouragement.

We are quick to judge those with a bad attitude. Have you ever thought about why that person may have a chip on their shoulder? Perhaps they are dealing with things that are much bigger than they are.

As Christians, we are called to be Christ-like. We are called to serve and care. You will never be able to witness if you are pointing out everybody else's sins. You will never be able to serve if that person doesn't think you care about them as a person. We can care about "winning souls" all day long, but unless you care about them as people, they will never even listen to you.

There are some sins that are more visible to us on the outside. It is almost like those people wear the scarlet letter. People that we think are the "face" of sin. We all have sin! Every one of us and we have no right to point out someone else's speck when we are dealing with our own log. Hidden or not, "small" or "big", sin is sin to God

Do you know what the face of sin looks like? Go look in the mirror!

Very well put honey. If all of our sins were on display we would be a lot less judgmental of others.

To the homeless : "If anyone gives you even a cup of water because you belong to the Messiah, I tell you the truth, that person will surely be rewarded." Mark 9:41

To those that are disgusted with addicts. Their "permissable" things are spoken of : "You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything." 1 Cor 6:12

To those looking down on the teens that are pregnant. There is a plan for that life: "“I knew you before I formed you in your other’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

No way we condone the sin but we love the sinner for that is what we are. The minute we lose that we become Pharasitical. That is something Jesus spoke against in length.

Nice post!

Preach it Sister!
We had something similar happen this week. On Sunday pm we had stopped at Kroger on our way home from church. When I go in I see someone that I graduated with while Kenny is still sitting in the car. When she comes out, she asks Kenny for money to get gas becasue she didn't have any. He gave her some money but yet she passed the nearest gas station when she left. That kind of upset him but I know that he did what God would have wanted him to do. What she did with that money, we may never know but Kenny will receive a blessing for helping someone in need.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
